While carports were originally developed to offer some form of protection to automobiles and found their humble beginnings in the early part of the twentieth century in mid-America, they have soon found their way for a wide variety of uses in farms everywhere. Today one can find cheap carports being used in farms of all sizes all over the country from the cold northeastern regions to the sunny southern states. Farmers have been quite innovative in finding uses for these cheap carports. Farm animals such as horses, cows and pigs can find shelter in a cheap carport. They can be sheltered from the snow, rain and beating sun while being able to enjoy the breeze and hence have plenty of fresh oxygen available.

Feedstock for the animals can be stored in a cheap carport installation. Along with it large troughs of water and hay can also be stored under protected conditions. A separate carport can be installed to store pesticides, fertilizer bags, seed bags and other agricultural products such as insecticides and such.

Certain specialty plants will grow only in the shade. For example, if you grow broad leaf tobacco that is used in the wrappers of premium hand made cigars, and do so in a very small scale, then several cheap carports could be used to provide the shade that is needed by this crop.

Finally, if you operate very large farms, then several cheap carports installed every so often in the farm can provide a place for rest for the farm workers who do not have to return to the home base to catch a breath and some rest prior to continuing their hard work throughout the day.
